Welcome to the McLean Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB) website. This site has been established to provide you with easy access to various IRB forms, guides, and relevant regulatory links.
The IRB is part of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) at McLean Hospital and is responsible for reviewing all research involving human subjects conducted by McLean employees and by those with professional staff appointments at McLean Hospital. In accordance with federal regulations, state laws and hospital policy, the IRB reviews research studies to ensure that the rights and welfare of human research participants are protected. Investigators are asked to work in conjunction with the IRB by following the policies and procedures and using the forms provided on this site.
Investigators and research participants are encouraged to contact the IRB office at 617-855-2932 or Lisa Seidman at 617-855-2981 with IRB protocol related questions.
News: McLean HRPP will be implementing an online protocol submission system over the next three months. The IRB will only accept Insight e-IRB submissions after the PI has completed training (unless the PI has used the e-IRB system at other Partners sites). All staff using the system should also attend one of the training sessions. Currently the IRB is accepting both emailed PDF applications to irb@mclean.harvard.edu and e-IRB submissions.
